Plumbing in Edinburgh

Plumbing work across Edinburgh for renovations, bathrooms, kitchens and heating, coordinated with every other trade on your job.

Plumbing sits at the heart of most renovations. Moving a sink, adding a shower or relocating radiators needs pipework and waste runs planned before floors and walls are closed up. Our plumbers work as part of the same team as our joiners, plasterers and tilers, so the first fix happens at the right point in the programme.

We also carry out plumbing on its own, from replacing taps and toilets to fitting new radiators and fixing leaks.

What is included

  • Pipework for new kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms
  • Replacing old lead and iron pipework
  • Radiator installation and relocation
  • Fitting showers, baths, basins and toilets
  • Outside taps and appliance connections
  • Leak finding and repairs
  • Waste and drainage alterations inside the property
  • Pressure and leak testing on completion

Gas work, including boiler installation and gas cooker connections, must by law be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Where your job includes gas work, we confirm who is carrying it out before it starts.

How the work runs

  1. Assess. We look at the existing pipework, water pressure and drainage and what the new layout needs.
  2. Quote. You get a clear, itemised quote and an agreed point in the programme for the plumbing.
  3. Install. Pipework is run, connected and pressure tested before walls and floors are closed up.
  4. Commission and hand over. Fittings are connected, the system is checked for leaks, and we show you where everything is.

Plumbing in tenements and older Edinburgh properties

Older Edinburgh properties can still have lead supply pipes, iron waste pipes and shared stacks. We identify these at the survey and explain the options for replacing them. In tenements, work on shared pipework or the main stopcock can affect neighbours, so we plan water shut offs in advance and keep them as short as possible.

Plumbing FAQs

Do you replace lead water pipes?

Yes. We replace lead pipework inside the property with modern pipe. If lead runs outside your property, Scottish Water or neighbours may also need to be involved, and we explain what we find.

Can you move radiators during a renovation?

Yes. Relocating radiators is common when rooms are replanned. We drain the system, move the pipework, refill and balance the radiators so the heating works properly.

What should I do if I have a leak?

Turn off the water at your main stopcock straight away, and switch off electrics near the leak if it is safe to do so. Then send us the details through the quote form so we can arrange a repair.
