Tiling only looks good for years when the surface beneath it is flat, sound and suitable. We prepare floors and walls first, then set out each room so cuts are balanced and lines run true. We work with ceramic, porcelain, large format slabs, mosaics and natural stone.
Tiling is often part of a wider kitchen or bathroom renovation with us, but we also take on tiling on its own, from a new splashback to large floor areas in bigger homes and commercial premises.
What is included
- Bathroom and shower wall tiling
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Floor tiling in kitchens, hallways and bathrooms
- Large format porcelain and natural stone
- Waterproof tanking for wet areas
- Preparation for underfloor heating
- Removal of old tiles and adhesive

How the work runs
- Survey and choose. We check the walls and floors, measure up and help you choose tiles that suit the room.
- Prepare. Old finishes come off, surfaces are levelled, and tanking or primers go on where needed.
- Set out and fix. We plan the layout so cuts are balanced, then fix the tiles with the right adhesive and trims.
- Grout, seal and clean. Joints are grouted, movement joints sealed, and the finished tiling cleaned down.
Tiling over timber floors in Edinburgh homes
Most tenement flats and older Edinburgh houses have suspended timber floors, which move more than concrete. Tiling straight onto floorboards risks cracked tiles and grout. We overboard with a suitable tile backer board or decoupling membrane, use flexible adhesives, and choose tile sizes that suit the floor, so the finish lasts.
Tiling FAQs
Can you tile over existing tiles?
Sometimes, if the existing tiles are firmly fixed and the extra height will not cause problems. In most bathrooms we recommend removing old tiles so we can check and waterproof the wall behind.
Do you supply tiles?
We can source tiles for you or fix tiles you have chosen. We tell you how many to order, including an allowance for cuts and breakages.
How soon can I use a newly tiled shower?
It depends on the adhesive and grout used, but showers are usually ready within one to two days of grouting. We give you clear advice for your job.
